Combining Qualitative Spatial Reasoning and Ontological Reasoning for Supporting Robot Tasks

چکیده
This paper presents an application of spatial and ontology reasoning technologies for mobile robot tasks. We provide a combination of the spatial reasoning calculi RCC-8 and CDC as well as their integration with OWLbased ontologies. An architecture that combines inference tools like Prolog, description logic reasoners, and complex-event processing implements our approach. We illustrate the results with a mobile robot scenario in a restaurant. In this paper, global path-finding demonstrates the use of qualitative spatial and ontological

Supporting Mobile Robot's Tasks through Qualitative Spatial Reasoning
In this paper, we present an application of qualitative spatial reasoning technologies for supporting mobile robot tasks. While focusing on detection of interaction ability, we provide a combination of the spatial reasoning calculi RCC-8 and CDC as well as their integration with OWL-based ontologies. An architecture that uses Prolog and complex-event processing implements our approach. We illus...
متن کاملTowards a generic foundation for spatial ontology
In this paper we describe the results of our current efforts to establish a foundation for combining spatial ontologies. We draw on the state of the art in computational ontological engineering, ontologies for geographic information systems and qualitative reasoning in order to build a framework within which these, and other, approaches may be placed. The skeleton of the framework is provided b...
متن کاملIncluding Qualitative Spatial Knowledge in the Sense-Plan-Act Loop
In this paper we present ongoing work on integrating qualitative and metric spatial reasoning into planning for robots. We propose a knowledge representation and reasoning technique, grounded on well-established constraint-based spatial calculi, for combining qualitative and metric knowledge and obtaining plans expressed in actionable metric terms.
متن کاملUsing Ontology-based Experiences for Supporting Robot Tasks - Position Paper
In this paper, we consider knowledge needed for interaction tasks of an artificial cognitive system, embodied by a service robot. First, we describe ideas about the use of experiences of a robot for improving its interactivity. Our approach is based on an multilevel ontological representation of knowledge. Thus, ontology-based reasoning techniques can be used for exploiting experiences. A robot...
متن کاملReasoning with Qualitative Velocity
The concept of qualitative velocity, together with qualitative distance and orientation, are very important in order to represent spatial reasoning for moving objects, such as robots. We consider the propositional dynamic logic which deals with qualitative velocity and enables us to represent some reasoning tasks about qualitative properties. The use of logic provides a general framework which ...
